The Sharjah Sports Council announced the details of the new edition of its annual Sharjah Sports Summer Programme, “Our Holiday Is Different,” which will begin on Monday, 6 July, and continue for four weeks. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, attended by H.E. Mohammed Obaid Al Husan, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council, a number of club chairmen, Bakhit Saeed Al Qars, Chairman of the Programme Organising Committee, committee members, club representatives, and various media outlets.

During the conference, the new features introduced to the programme were presented. The programme combines sports, culture, fun, entertainment, and creativity, providing an ideal way to make the best use of free time during the summer holiday.

The conference included a speech by the Chairman of the Organising Committee and another by Ahmed Al Salman, the programme supervisor. Both then answered questions and enquiries from media representatives. The following is a summary of what was announced regarding the 2026 edition of “Our Holiday Is Different.”

The programme comes as part of the Council’s strategy and objectives to care for young people, make productive use of their free time, instil the spirit of teamwork, develop their intellectual and athletic skills, strengthen their sense of loyalty and belonging, and unleash their energy and creativity in various fields, in line with the principles of Islam, moral values, and national objectives.

The programme aims to invest young people’s free time during the summer holiday in meaningful sports and recreational activities, discover and attract promising sports talents to join sports and specialised clubs in the emirate, and develop leadership skills among participants while preparing promising young leaders through specialised development programmes.

The programme targets the participation of age groups including juniors aged 7 to 12 and youth aged 13 to 17 from clubs across the emirate.

This edition will see the participation of 17 sports and specialised clubs. The sports clubs are: Sharjah, Al Hamriyah, Al Bataeh, Khorfakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, Al Dhaid, Kalba, Mleiha, and Al Madam. The specialised clubs are: Sharjah Chess Club, Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Al Thiqah Club for the Disabled, Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, Sharjah Old Cars Club, Sharjah Chess and Culture Club for Girls, Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, and Sharjah Falconers Club.

A theme has been approved for each of the four weeks of the programme. The first week will be titled “Family,” the second “Artificial Intelligence,” the third “Here Is Sharjah,” and the fourth “Sports.”

The programme includes a number of events, activities, and competitions to discover talents, awareness workshops, training courses on the uses of artificial intelligence, field visits, electronic games, in addition to cultural, religious, and sports activities.

The awards include four categories through eight prizes: Overall Excellence, which includes the Best Club in Overall Excellence in both the sports and specialised categories, awarded to the club with the highest total score; Best Sports Club, for the top three places; Best Specialised Sports Club, for the top three places; and Best Creative Initiative, in both the sports and specialised categories.

A guide has been approved to evaluate the new edition according to performance indicators, including monitoring the number of participants, the percentage of UAE nationals, and the participants’ satisfaction rate. An electronic monitoring and registration system has also been approved for the first time across all participating clubs.
